Autumn residence for contemporary dance and theatre artists in Kostroma, Russia

Autumn residence takes place on STANTSIA art venue and gives artists an opportunity to create a performance within 10 days and then present it at the end of residence.

STANTSIA art venue was founded in 2009 in a former factory building of Kostroma's industrial district. Kostroma is the old Russian city situated in the nice place on the the Volga river, only 330 km to the north-east of Moscow.

16-20.9.2016

Since 2007 Dialogue Dance Company (founded by Ivan Estegneev and Evgeny Kulagin in 2002 in Kostroma) organises and holds the International Festival of Contemporary Dance Duets “Diversia”. Festival is well known both in Russia and Europe and happens annualy.

NCCA Ural, Bazov-fest 2016 in Yekaterinburg, Russia

The National Center of Contemporary Arts in Yekaterinburg is Ural federal area’s biggest contemporary art sphere for exhibitions, educational projects, residences, workshops of the artists and laboratories on contemporary theater and dance.

Full Moon Dance Festival is celebrating its 25th year in 2016. For 25 years event that has been bringing  together dancers, choreographers and audience for. The festival was conceived as a place for meetings, workshops and discussions. For the audience, Full Moon Dance Festival is an intimate experience and one that is focussed entirely on the essence of artistry. For the town of Pyhäjärvi, the festival has brought international visibility and a lively week filled with extraordinary experiences each year.

15 - 21.6.2016

The Kuopio Dance Festival 2016 is where Asia meets Europe. Cinderella by Thierry Malandain, La Curva by Israel Galván, MESH by Tero Saarinen, and creations by Andonis Foniadakis, Philippe Kratz and Giuseppe Spota, interpreted by Compagnia Aterballetto. There are various anniversaries: Tero Saarinen Company’s 20th, Katri Soini’s 50th, Sankai Juku’s 40th and the 30th boys’ residential dance course. Gala evenings, a creation by Jorma Uotinen set in the cathedral, dozens of dance courses and fringe events provide experiences for the whole week of light summer nights amongst the lakes and greenery of Kuopio.

28.6. - 7.7.2016

OPEN LOOK festival is an international event offering training and performance programs that cover a wide range of contemporary dance forms. Held each summer during the beautiful St.-Petersburg White Nights season, the festival gathers Russian dancers, choreographers and students for a series of intensive workshops held by well-known dance masters from all over the world.

Call out for dance and visual theatre producers. Registrations for RUSSIAN LOOK National Dance & Theatre platform in St.Petersburg, Russia are now open. RUSSIAN LOOK National Dance & Theatre platform is a part of the 8th International Summer Festival Open Look. The festival is organized by Dance House Kannon Dance and the Committee for Culture in St. Petersburg.

Platform gives an opportunity to the russian and international audiences to get acquainted with the selection of contemporary dance, visual and physical theatre, multi-media, new circus, site-specific and experimental projects from different regions of Russia. The works are presented to the professional community – experts of Theatre Award ‘Golden Mask’, directors of Russian and international festivals and individual producers from all over the world. The selection is made from the new works of the seasons 2014-2016.

Finnish Dance Weekends in St.Petersburg, Russia

Spring 2016

A new project together with Dance House Kannon Dance. Finland is Saint Petersburg’s closest neighbour in the North-West region. Many of Russian and Finnish citizens oftenly cross the border for 1 or 2 days in order to spend a weekend in Saint-Petersburg or Helsinki. The idea of the Finnish Dance Weekend project is to find a new concept for development the two-way relationship in the field of contemporary dance. During this project Finnish choreographers and dance pedagogues would be coming to St.Peterburg for 2 days to keep workshops and to meet local dance companies, choreographers and dancers. 

Dance 4Kids Festival, St.Petersburg, Russia

21-26.3.2016

Dance festival for children. Programme includes master classes and workshops, performances and unique programs for children. Participants have the opportunity to present their work at professional stages, can try themselves as a choreographer and showcase their work. A special feature of the festival is also the creation of new work by choreographers of St. Petersburg for the repertoire of each team. This year Aurinkobaletti - AB Dance Company (Turku) will perform 'The Emperor's New Clothes' on the festival and choreographer Urmas Poolamets will also keep a workshop. 

29-30.1.2016

A Finnish-Russian collaborative project with choreographer, light & sound designers from Finnish side and six dancers, set & costume designer from Russian side will create together a dance piece named the Lost Voices Of The Humdrum. The premiere will be at Skorohod venue in St.Petersburg. Production by ByeBye BALLET with the support of Dance Info Finland. 

7-10.1.2016

Dance Company Vozdukh (meaning “Air”) is starting a new contemporary dance festival. It will be the first one in the South of Russia. Happening between 7th - 10th of January 2016 it will consist of performances and workshops both by Russian and foreign companies. The festival will take place at the theatre platform One Theatre and company’s own dance studio Vozdukh. Glims & Gloms dance company from Finland performed its piece "Sore Point" on the festival. And Katri Soini kept a workshop. 

3-6.12.2015

Between 3rd and 6th of December St.Petersburg will have a chance to see seven different contemporary dance performances from Finland: Start Play by Arja Raatikainen & Co, Hmm by Sonja Jokiniemi, L'AUTRE  by Favela Vera Ortiz, Deep by Alpo Aaltokoski Company, LAND(E)SCAPES by Nadja Pärssinen, Post simple tense... by NotaBene and RED by Carl Knif Company.

24-29.11.2015

Tangotheatre Kiukkarainen with the peformance Chess Piece will perform on the 7th International Contemporary Dance Festival “Na Grani” (meaning "On The Edge") that will be held in Yekaterinburg, Russia from November 24 to 29, 2015. 

Festival takes place annually, focusing on international programme every second year. The region is known for its established contemporary dance companies among which are Tatyana Baganova’s company Provincial Dances and Olga Pona’s Chelyabinsk Theatre of Contemporary Dance. Yekaterinburg city is known as a capital of contemporary dance in Russia - status that is being confirmed every year also by the festival. 

1-3.11.2015

Centre of Contemporary Choreography of Omsk city, Russia together with the Regional Ministry of Culture is organising a dance competition from 1st till 3rd of November 2015. The competition will be held for the first time and participants are children and young adults from 8 to 22 years old. 

 

Centre of Contemporary Choreography has chosen a Finnish teacher and choreohrapher Anni Puupera as a jury member for the competition. Anni will also keep a workshop for the participants.

Alexander theatre in Helsinki has been always a home for world class dance producitons and companies. This season it again offers a varibale choice of shows for contemporary dance lovers: three Finnish dance companies with five different performances (Alpo Aaltokoski Company, Carl Knif Company & Pori Dance Company) and one Norwegian dance performance (Jo Strømgren Company). 

19-24.10.2015

Russian companies will come to perform to Joensuu! The 13th edition of the Lonely in the Rain? festival will be held in Joensuu, Finland 19.-24.10.2015. The profile of the contemporary dance, performance art and improvisation. This year the festival will be held at Ahjo Art Centre - a large gallery space in the centre of the city, the Botania indoor botanical gardens and the small and big stages of the city theatre. The festival brings together both prolific international artists as well as performative concepts by local and national dance makers.

2-10.10.2015

Tero Saarinen Company will show Morphed at the International Festival ‘Territoria’ on 6th of October. Tero Saarinen will also keep workshops. Festival & school 'Territoria' was established in 2006 with support from Ministry of Culture and City Government of Moscow. The program of this vibrant multicultural festival consists of uniquely experimental contemporary performance pieces, and similarly adjacent genres. 

25-28.9.2015

On 27th of September Pori Dance Company will perform Wanha (chor. Tero Saarinen) at the Contemporary Dance Duets Festival Diversia 2015. It takes place in Kostroma (Russia) in September, 25th — 28th. The main program of the Diversia Festival presents 15-60 minutes contemporary dance performances with two performers on stage. This festival is well known and has housted dance companies and artists from all over the world.

Open Conference on Finnish-Russian collaboration in contemporary dance field in Moscow, Russia.

5.10.2015

Organized by Dance Info Finland and Finnish Embassy in Moscow the conference is dedicated to the questions of Finnish-Russian collaboration in contemporary dance field. Event is also timed with the coming performance of Tero Saarinen Company at Territory Festival on October, 6th.

13-18.7.2015

Dance Platform ZIL is organising an annual festival of emerging contemporary dance that brings together young dance artists who perform their own choreography. This year the focus is Finland and Russia. ZIL Cultural Centre is a multifunctional facility for arts and creative education for various audiences. It is a venue that presents dance, theatre, music and interdisciplinary projects. It also provides curated residencies to young performing artists.
